Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front (District Faridkot Unit) has launched a full-scale agitation against the state’s Bhagwant Mann government. During a crucial meeting held at the local Pensioners’ Bhawan-presided over by State Convener Bhajan Singh Gill-a new District Coordination Committee was constituted on one hand, while on the other, the clarion call for a struggle against the government’s “anti-employee” policies was sounded.
Key Demands and Criticism of the Government:
Addressing the meeting, Bhajan Singh Gill and other provincial leaders launched a scathing attack on the government’s functioning. They primarily raised the following demands:
Dearness Allowance (DA): The pending 16% Dearness Allowance (comprising five installments) must be released immediately.
Old Pension Scheme (OPS): The government must immediately issue a formal notification to implement the OPS at the grassroots level.
Casual Employees: Contractual, outsourced, and scheme workers must be regularized without any delay.

Formation of the New District Coordination Committee:
To strengthen the organization, a robust committee comprising leaders from various departments has been constituted. The following leaders have been included in this committee:
Simarjit Singh Brar, Prem Chawla, Jasmel Singh Jassi,
Navpreet Singh, Subhash Chandra Sharma, Balwinder Ram Sharma,
Harpal Singh Machaki, Kulwant Singh Chani, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi, and Gurtej Singh Khaira. Outline of the Upcoming Struggle:
The Joint Front has unanimously announced two major programs for the days ahead:
May 1 (Labour Day): On the occasion of International Labour Day, a massive public rally will be organized at the Faridkot Bus Stand at 11:00 AM.
May 17 (Jalandhar Convention): A large number of employees and pensioners from Faridkot district will participate in the state-level convention to be held at the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall in Jalandhar.
During the meeting, Surinder Ram Kusa, Sukhmander Singh Bagha Purana, and Inderjit Singh Khiwa also strongly condemned the pro-corporate policies of the Central and State governments. Several leaders and active functionaries from various departments were present on this occasion.
