Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): The Faridkot Police has implemented stringent security measures to ensure that the upcoming Municipal Council elections—scheduled for 2026—are conducted in a completely peaceful, fair, and transparent manner. In this context, under the leadership of District Police Chief Dr. Pragya Jain (IPS), a massive flag march was conducted through various markets and sensitive areas of Faridkot city, involving a heavy police contingent. On this occasion, DSP Mr. Tarlochan Singh accompanied her. DSP (Local) Mr. Naveen Kumar, along with the SHOs of various police stations and a large number of police personnel, were present in Faridkot. The march commenced at the Sadar Police Station and concluded at the City Police Station.
This flag march began at the Sadar Police Station, Faridkot, and traversed through all major and critical locations and markets within the city—such as Dogar Basti, Kamina Chowk, Huki Chowk, and Ghanta Ghar Chowk—before concluding at the City Police Station, Faridkot. In addition to Gazetted Police Officers, approximately 250 police personnel—including ARP teams, PCR teams, and traffic staff—participated in this march.
800 Personnel and 25 Patrolling Teams Deployed for Security:
Providing essential details to the press regarding this initiative, SSP Dr. Pragya Jain stated that approximately 800 police personnel have been deployed across the district to maintain security arrangements during the elections. Furthermore, 25 special patrolling parties have been deployed to maintain a constant vigil over all movement within the area. She added that round-the-clock checkpoints (Nakas) have been established at the city and district borders to further bolster security and to prevent any unlawful activities. The District Police Chief issued a stern warning, stating that no mischievous element attempting to disrupt the atmosphere during the elections would be spared. The police administration is maintaining an even stricter vigil over sensitive areas. The police will discharge their responsibility of conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections with utmost dedication.
Appeal to Voters to Remain Fearless; Call for Public Cooperation:
Dr. Pragya Jain appealed to the general public and voters to exercise their right to vote in these elections without any fear, intimidation, or inducement. If any complaints are received regarding the distribution of drugs, liquor, or any other form of bribery to voters in any area, the police will immediately initiate strict legal action. Furthermore, she appealed to the public to immediately inform the police if they spot any unclaimed objects or suspicious individuals.
