Police ‘Mega Raid’ at Faridkot Jail: 150 Personnel Scour Every Corner…

Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): In a bid to fortify security arrangements within prisons and crack down on illicit activities, the Faridkot Police today conducted a major surprise search operation at the Central Modern Jail. Led by SSP Dr. Pragya Jain, this operation created a stir among both the jail administration and the inmates.
Key Highlights of the Operation:
Force: Separate teams comprising approximately 150 police personnel.
Leadership: SSP Dr. Pragya Jain and DSP (C&W) Mr. Jagtar Singh.
Targets: Barracks, canteens, restrooms, and the jail’s boundary walls.
Respect for Privacy: Special female police personnel were deployed to conduct searches in the women’s barracks.
Every Inch Scrutinized:
During this covert operation, the police not only searched the inmates’ living quarters (barracks) but also closely inspected the jail’s boundary walls and verified the working condition of the CCTV cameras. The primary objective is to completely prevent the entry of narcotics, mobile phones, or any other contraband into the jail premises.
“This operation was kept completely confidential to ensure that no mischievous elements had the opportunity to be alerted. Such surprise checks will continue in the future to maintain discipline within the jail,” stated Dr. Pragya Jain, SSP Faridkot.
Police Advisory for Local Residents:
Alongside the search operation, the police have extended their security cordon beyond the jail walls.
Tenant Information: House owners have been strictly instructed to immediately provide details regarding their tenants to the police.
Surveillance in the Vicinity: Records of individuals residing near the jail are being scrutinized to prevent incidents of contraband being thrown into the jail premises from the outside (known as “throw-ins”). Public Cooperation: The police have appealed to citizens to fulfill their duty as responsible members of society by immediately reporting any suspicious activity to the administration.
