Faridkot, April 16 (Alexander D’Souza): The Faridkot Police have achieved a major success as part of a special campaign launched against criminals. Under the able leadership of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain and with the assistance of technical experts, the police have arrested an inter-district thief, successfully solving the case involving the theft of a tractor-trailer from the Sadik area in a mere 9 days.
Acting on the information provided by the accused, the police have also recovered the stolen trailer.
Key Details: Who is the Accused?
The arrested accused has been identified as Joga Singh alias Jagga (49), a resident of Shimlapuri, Ludhiana. Investigations revealed that the accused is no ordinary criminal.
Habitual Offender: More than 10 cases of theft are already registered against the accused across various districts, including Ludhiana, Rupnagar, and Barnala.
Professional Driver: The accused himself is a truck driver; he leveraged this skill to easily steal large commercial vehicles.
Background of the Incident:
Providing details regarding the case, SP (Investigation) Mr. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya stated that a tractor-trailer was stolen from the Reliance Petrol Pump located on the Sadik-Faridkot Road during the intervening night of April 5 and 6. Based on a complaint filed by the trailer’s owner, Bikar Singh, a case was registered at the Sadik Police Station under Section 303(2) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita), and an investigation was initiated.
How Was the Trap Laid for the Arrest?
Acting on the directives of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain, a special team comprising the CIA Staff and the Sadik Police was constituted under the supervision of DSP Avtar Singh and DSP Tarlochan Singh.
Technical Investigation: The police thoroughly scrutinized CCTV footage from the crime scene and the surrounding routes. Scientific Evidence: With the assistance of technical experts, the accused’s location was successfully traced.
Breakthrough: On April 15, following a strategic encirclement, the accused was apprehended on the Sadik-Muktsar Road.
“Being a truck driver, the accused would first conduct reconnaissance and, seizing the opportunity, flee with the vehicle. It is also suspected that he has links to criminal gangs operating in Amritsar and Tarn Taran,” stated Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, SP (Investigation).
Further Action:
The police administration has clarified that they are in the process of obtaining the accused’s remand from the court. During the interrogation conducted while in remand, it is expected that several other major theft cases will be solved and the names of other members of the gang will come to light. The police reiterated that no criminal who attempts to disrupt the peace and security of the district will be spared.
