Faridkot, April 6 (Alexander D’Souza): Giving concrete shape to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of making Punjab drug-free, the Faridkot Police today dealt a massive blow to drug traffickers. Under the leadership of IG Faridkot Range Nilambari Jagdale and SSP Dr. Pragya Jain, the police, acting with complete transparency, destroyed a massive quantity of drugs seized in various cases. Drug Consignment Incinerated at Power Plant: IG Nilambari Jagdale personally supervised the process of destroying the narcotics while present at the SAIL Limited Power Plant (Seda Singh Wala). Speaking to the media, she stated that narcotics related to 32 different cases under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act were destroyed today using scientific methods.
Details of Destroyed Drugs: Heroin: Over 13.7 kg; Poppy Husk (Bhukki): 59.400 kg; Narcotic Pills/Capsules: 5,131; Ice Drug: 510 grams. Crippling the Traffickers’ Financial Backbone: ₹9 Crore in Property Frozen. Sharing statistics regarding the ongoing operations in the district, SSP Faridkot Dr. Pragya Jain stated that the police are not limiting themselves merely to arrests but are also dismantling the economic empires of the traffickers. “Since March 2025, the police have registered 1,199 cases and sent 1,800 accused individuals to jail. In a major crackdown, illegal assets belonging to traffickers—worth over ₹9 crore—have been frozen over the last 19 months,” said Dr. Pragya Jain, SSP Faridkot.
Helpline Issued for the Public: The police administration has appealed to the general public to extend their support in this battle against drugs. The SSP shared that the Punjab Government’s special helpline, 97791-00200, can be contacted to provide information regarding drug peddlers. The name and identity of the informant will be kept completely confidential.
