The Punjab government is poised to take a decisive step toward eradicating drug abuse from the state and improving the standard of living of its citizens. Preparations for the ‘Drug and Socio-Economic Census’ have gained momentum in the Faridkot district. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, has appealed to eligible government employees within the district to become a part of this initiative and apply for the role of Enumerator.
Key Objectives and Methodology of the Survey:
ADC Malhotra explained that the primary objective of this census is to understand the ground realities.
He clarified the following points:
Accurate Data: Data regarding the current status of drug abuse and the economic needs of the populace will be collected.
Digital Survey: The entire process will be conducted digitally-via a specialized mobile application issued by the government-rather than through manual paperwork.
Policy Formulation: Based on this data, the government will formulate future welfare schemes and anti-drug policies.

Timeline and Targets
This campaign is officially scheduled to commence on April 5, 2026. The administration has set a rigorous target to complete the entire exercise within 45 days. Mr. Malhotra emphasized that this is not merely a duty, but a significant opportunity to contribute to social reform.
Details, Eligibility, and Conditions:
Eligibility: Regular or contractual employees of the Punjab government.
Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or a Diploma.
Workload: Each enumerator will be required to survey approximately 250 households.
Honorarium: ₹250 per household (offering an opportunity to earn up to a total of ₹62,500).
