Faridkot Police Launch Major Crackdown Against Drug Traffickers;

Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): Under the ‘War Against Drugs’ initiative launched by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Faridkot Police today conducted a large-scale ‘Cordon and Search Operation’ (CASO) across the entire district. During this operation-conducted under the directives of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav-suspected hideouts of drug traffickers and sensitive areas were thoroughly searched.

Checking Conducted Under the Supervision of Gazetted Officers
Faridkot SSP Dr. Pragya Jain stated that this campaign was carried out simultaneously across all three sub-divisions of the district. It was supervised by SP (Local) Manvinderbir Singh and SP (Investigation) Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, while officers of DSP rank took charge on the ground. Teams comprising over 100 police personnel cordoned off the areas and searched incoming and outgoing vehicles, as well as suspicious individuals.
Action Against Drug Traffickers; A New Life for Victims
Dr. Pragya Jain clarified that the records of individuals against whom cases had previously been registered under the NDPS Act are being scrutinized. The police have been instructed to investigate the backward and forward linkages of every case. She stated, “We are not only sending traffickers to jail but are also striving to reintegrate drug victims into the mainstream by admitting them to de-addiction centers.” Major Recoveries to Date
According to police data, from March 2025 to the present: Total Cases: 1,112; Arrests: 1,686 accused individuals; Recoveries: 39 kg of heroin, 7 kg of opium, 20 quintals of poppy husk, 22,000 narcotic pills, and ₹16 lakh in drug money.
Financial Impact: Property worth ₹9 crore seized.
To cripple drug traffickers, the police have also taken action against their movable and immovable assets. Over the past 19 months, property worth more than ₹9 crore—acquired through drug-related earnings—has been frozen.
