Faridkot (Alexander D’Souza): With the objective of minimizing loss of life and property during natural calamities and sudden accidents, an annual Disaster Management Program was organized today at the Nehru Stadium in Faridkot. Held under the guidance of District Revenue Officer Ms. Lovepreet Kaur, the event featured demonstrations by an NDRF team showcasing various rescue techniques.
Mock Drill Becomes the Center of Attraction:
The team arrived under the leadership of the 7th Battalion, NDRF. The Commandant from Bathinda, Mr. Baljinder Singh, raised public awareness in a highly accessible and easy-to-understand manner. A special mock drill was conducted during the program, demonstrating how to take immediate action in situations involving disasters such as floods and fires.
Proper methods for transporting injured persons to safe locations;
Effective utilization of available resources during emergencies. Preparedness is the Primary Means of Rescue:
Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Mr. Harshvir Goyal emphasized that being prepared is crucial for effectively dealing with any disaster. He stated that if ordinary citizens and administrative departments work in close coordination, the impact of major accidents can be significantly mitigated.
Emphasis on Enhancing Coordination:
The primary objective of this exercise was to strengthen coordination among government departments, the NDRF, and social welfare organizations (NGOs). Officials and employees from various departments, along with a large number of city residents, participated in the program and learned the intricacies of rescue operations.
