
Major Success for Faridkot Police’s ‘War on Drugs’ Campaign: 2 Smugglers Arrested with 11,000 Narcotic Capsules…
Faridkot/ Kotkapura (Alexander D’Souza): Another significant operation has been carried out under the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign launched by the Faridkot Police to eradicate the menace of drugs from its roots. Acting under the directives of SSP Faridkot, Dr. Pragya Jain, and the guidance of senior officials, the police force of Police Station City Kotkapura has arrested two drug smugglers in possession of a large quantity of banned capsules and tablets.
Details of Arrest and Recovery:
According to reports, a police team comprising SP (Investigation) Mr. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, DSP Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, and Assistant Thanedar Bhupinderjit Singh was on patrol duty at the New Grain Market (Nai Anaj Mandi) in Kotkapura. During this patrol, the following items were recovered from two individuals who were approaching in a suspicious manner:
11,000 Pregabalin capsules (banned substance), and 80 narcotic tablets (Tramadol).
Identification of the Accused:
The arrested accused have been identified as follows: 1. Parveen Kumar (Resident of Jeevan Nagar, Kotkapura), 2. Karandeep Singh alias ‘Karni’ (Resident of Bura Gujjar, Gandhi Nagar, Sri Muktsar Sahib). Notable Point: The accused, Karandeep Singh alias ‘Karni’, is a habitual offender with a criminal history; two cases related to drug trafficking have already been registered against him previously.
Legal Action and Further Investigation:
The police have registered Case No. 55 against the accused at Police Station City Kotkapura under Sections 22(b)/61/85 of the NDPS Act and Section 223 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita).
Police Remand: The accused were produced before the court, and police remand has been secured. Investigation into Supply Links: The police are now meticulously investigating the forward and backward linkages of this gang in an effort to completely dismantle the drug supply chain.
